Recommendations on how to go about buying a dream family home depends on whether the decision is to buy direct or through a broker. If the decision is to attempt to buy direct, scan the real estate classified section of the newspapers for ads inserted by real estate developers or by owners. You can also try canvassing by car, looking for “For Sale” signs is often worth while. You can also alert friends or relatives to be on the lookout for a good home for sale near their place.

If the decision is to utilize the services of a real estate broker, choose a professional and a reputable one. The broker may be a personal acquaintance or maybe recommended by a satisfied client. If you are unsure where to look for a broker, you can try looking in the yellow pages of your phone directory for the terms “Broker” or “Realtors” who are members of a professional organization.
