Many homeowners become complacent about home security because they feel they have nothing worth stealing. What they fail to realize is that the majrity of burglars have no way of knowing escatly what is inside any home. Most break into a house, expecting to be lucky.
Given enough time, a burglar will tear into a house, ripping apart upholstery, breaking up cabinets, and even pulling pictures from the walls, looking for saleable items. These cost more to repair the damage than to replace the stolen items.

Only a small percentage of burglaries are the result of careful planning and execution by seasoned professionals. The majority of break-ins are done alone or with a partner also in dire need of money.
The tips below are nothing fancy like installing an ultra hightech motion detector that shoots laser. They are just common sense put together to at lease deter home theft.
1. If you are away from home for long periods you might want to consider having a house sitter drop by at different times. It also is a big help to have a trusted neighbor who spends most of the time at home to watch over your house.
2. You can also set up props to create an illusion of activity around the house. Objects like a children’s bike, pairs of dirty shoes and slippers, any invaluable object that suggests activity.
3. Remember to stop all deliveries if you intend to be away for a long period of time. Have a trusted neighbor pick up mail everyday or clean the garden for you.
4. Your home should never be totally dark at night. You should have lights regulated by timers or photosensitive activators to have them lit up on specific times.
5. Install a home burglar alarm. Depending on the system it may be the type that comes with lights that help distract burglars and wake up neighbors or it can also be the type where it is connected to a nearby police station’s system.
6. If you have valuable things inside that you cannot bring, hire a professional guard from a reputable company, they cost a bit but the feeling of having someone guard your house 24/7 is quite good.
7. Lastly, still the best deterrent against burglary is a network of vigilant neighbors. Although, this is not always true for people living in cities where everybody minds there own business.

If the decision is to attempt to buy direct, scan the real estate classified section of the newspapers for ads inserted by real estate developers or by owners. You can also try canvassing by car, looking for “For Sale” signs is often worth while. You can also alert friends or relatives to be on the lookout for a good home for sale near their place.

If the decision is to utilize the services of a real estate broker, choose a professional and a reputable one. The broker may be a personal acquaintance or maybe recommended by a satisfied client. If you are unsure where to look for a broker, you can try looking in the yellow pages of your phone directory for the terms “Broker” or “Realtors” who are members of a professional organization.

These are one of the first questions usually asked when buying a newly built property, a used home, or even renting a property. If someone in your family is qualified to buy a home in a sound location, at the right price, the services of a licensed real estate broker may not be necessary. If there is no one within your family who knows the ins and outs of property buying, the real estate broker will save the buyer time, effort, and money, even though he earns a commission from the seller.
The broker possesses a stock of listings which he has inspected, and is in a position to know which property suits you best based on your requirements. When you make an offer to purchase a property, the professional broker is usually able to negotiate more skillfully on your behalf. However, a few brokers having connections with the seller just intend to dispose of the property at the fastest time possible. Combine those with some earning a higher mark-up plus commission besides the sellers original price, will make for an expensive purchase.
Whether with or without the help from a broker, it is always best to negotiate for the most fair price to both parties involved.

If you have the necessary income to buy, build or to rent a house and apartment which would you choose? It’s quite a hard choice, and once the choice is made a myriad more of choices open up!
In choosing to own, you may want either a new or used home or an apartment in the city. If you choose a new home, the development home might be bought or you may choose a home built to order. Or perhaps a two or three-storey home may be what you want.

If the decision is to rent, these are the following possibilities: a low density garden apartment, a high rise condominium in the city, a duplex unit, a house, or an apartment in a government owned housing project.
Although some decisions made to rent are due to income, work, lifestyle, and capital required to own a house, the reason’s favoring ownership are much more numerous with the following advantages or disadvantages such as:
1. Home ownership is a good investment - although some brokers are pushing buyers to believe the investment opportunity of owning a home, it really depends on the location, and the date of purchase and sale of the property.
2. Home ownership inspires good citizenship - this is quite true since a homeowner has a greater stake incommunity building. However, there are also some who make for nasty neighbors.
3. Home ownership is an incentive to save - this is true as the mortgage payments require you to really save on money. However, if the home is sold at a loss the savings are negated.
4. Home ownership affords the children a good place to live while they are growing up - this advantage alone is one of the many reasons young couples save up for owning a home.
5. Home ownership increases credit status - not really true because apartment dwellers renting a place can command an equal or sometimes greater credit standing.
6. Home ownership permits the family to keep the profits the lessor would acquire - another reason many start owning a home because of the profits saved when you own your place.
7. Home ownership offers satisfaction that comes in no other way - owning your own home gives a sense of security and belonging that is not available to the renter.
For the undecided however, the obvious solution is temporary rental. You can rent on a one year term, a rent for six months, or even a month to month basis.
