Still not a word from the developers of “the Stack” - the same company who developed the Sky Suites Tower we reviewed a while back. As the name suggest, the building resembles a stack of colored boxes (piled on top of the other).

There is a split though with regards to aesthetic as some say this looks horribly ugly while others are all praise for such creativeness. What do you think?

Called “Number One Rockwell” this magnificent landmark that is to rise at the Rockwell Center in Makati, Philippines was conceptualized by Miami based firm Arquitectonica - the same firm who designed the Pacific Plaza Towers located at Fort Bonifacio. The building with its unusual geometric shape is comprised of two towers - the West tower (a 55 storey cylindrical building) and the East tower (a 44 storey “tiered” building).

Real estate agents call the East tower “the Z tower” not to be confused with the exterior design which when viewed in birds-eye really resembles an “M” or a “W” but Z tower because of its innovative floor layout - a floor plan that spans the width of the building thereby allowing residents different views for each end of their units! The cascading shape of the East tower’s exterior was inspired from the famous Banaue Rice Terraces. The angular shape of the East Tower has a total of seven corners or points. The highest point being at 46 storeys, then cascading down to 41 storeys as the lowest.

The West tower, designed to contrast the form of the Z tower with its curvilinear envelope is made up of two halves that seem to slide away from each at the center - resembling much like an “earthquake fault line”, which can also be seen on either side of the building.

Like all twin towers, they will be consolidated at the ground floor by a piazza, galleries, and retail spaces. The roundabout driveway (at the center) will take the residents up to a private lobby.

This iconic structure will claim the first of its kind here in the country (more like fourth in my opinion to GT Tower, RCBC Tower, and Pacific Plaza Tower) to utilize a distinct building envelope that will change the Makati Skyline.
